80's Love

I absolutely adore the 80's. Whats not to love? bold styles and colours, shoulder pads/ power shoulders and lots more. I LOVE colours so much and i really love power shoulders and shoulder pads. I think styles of the 80's can only be rocked by bold and confident women...women who are not afraid of expressing themselves through fashion of course :) I am addicted to all things 80's (well..and 90's and 60's and 50's and 40's and 30's and 20's). Yes! i love anything old school or retro from fashion to music to movies to architecture to interior. I believe i was born in the wrong decade (lord knows i don't understand the nonsense people churn out these days). People paid much more attention to detail and craftsmanship in the old days and i wish that was the case today. Sadly, it is not entirely.

My love for the 80's is the reason i started watching carrie diaries. I have never really been a fan of sex and the city and not because the show wasn't interesting, but because i could never relate to any of the women. The only thing i could relate to was carries' daring fashion sense and so i got glued to my telly every week watching episode after episode for fashion reasons only. That's kind of the same reason i watch carrie diaries. Lord knows i dont really enjoy the corny script. So, i decided to put a little 80's outfit together. This is something i would totally rock. If you have never been an 80's fan you should try it out. You could start with safe colours and then work your way up. If you are bold, then go for clashing prints or pop of colours.

Ideas for graduation

I got a few emails asking me to show a few dresses i think would be nice for a graduation ceremony. Like any other event, i dont think an outfit for a grad ceremony should be boring. So, i have chosen a few dresses i think would suit all tastes and sizes. From minimalist to maximalist...from safe colours to bright colours and patterns. I hope you like this :)

Have a Lovely day

Metro-Scent-ual

1 Pharrell Williams and Cara Delevingne by David Bailey for Vogue UK September 2013
He looks more than half his age

Lets face it. Men that take really good care of themselves generally tend to look better, smell nicer and age gracefully. When it comes to hygiene i am all in support of men becoming metro-sexual.  I do not understand why some men think the unkempt look is hot. it probably would be if we were in the stone age and i was Wilma. I love when men take care of themselves. In fact, i love metro-sexual men. They are neater, smell nicer, well groomed, they use sun block and they are very stylish. Thumbs up to any man that uses sun cream because just as men love women with soft skin, well, some women love their men with even toned smooth skin too. Ain't nobody got time for rough gravel skin. The interesting thing is some men would rather not be metro-sexual. They feel its not 'manly'and its somewhat effeminate. They would rather have that masculine scent. Some do not even use basic products like deodorant. I'm not sure who told them smelling like diced garlic is sexy.

For me, SCENT is the most important thing...and then skin...and then style. For clothes to fit right one has to be fit. Ain't nobody checking for a pot belly in a suit..like really?! Some guys need to take better care of themselves because hiding all the extra fat underneath that kaftan will do you no good. Men should also manicure and pedicure. There is nothing as disgusting as a man with dirty long nails and heaven only knows where those dirty nails will end up..ewww!. Pedicures don't cost so much you see.
Yummeh!

I feel metro-sexual men get it right all the time and they generally age more gracefully. So to all the guys out there, if Pharell/Idris/Denzel's hotness does not inspire you to hit the gym, take better care of yourself and have a sense of style (other than jeans and blazer which by the way is so dead!), i dont know what else will. By the way, Pharell williams is 40, Idris elba is also 40 and Denzel is 58 years old. beat that :)

Punk Princess

I quite like the idea of pairing a cute dress with open toe boots and then finishing up with a leather jacket to get that punk inspired look. I'd usually dress this way if i am meeting up with friends for drinks/cinema or a house shindig with amazing people.

I would also wear this to go shopping. I really love playing dress up when i go shopping because i think its fun. There is no point going into fancy stores dressed down in my opinion. In fact, there is no point ever dressing down even if its to a corner store haha. What do you think? Would you wear this outfit? If so, where would you wear it to?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend

Truth Hurts

KS_Beautiful Lie

I was watching my favourite show on BET, 'the game' and this song started playing in the background. I had no clue who the artist was but thanks to good old Google, i found out. The well written lyrics and lovely voice got me hooked. After a few replays, the lyrics got me thinking. In the song, Katlynn sings about refusing to believe the truth of the infidelity of her beau and preferring a lie to that reality.

This got me thinking about a lot of relationships today in Nigeria where some women would rather turn a blind eye to the infidelity of their partner. Some women  really prefer not to know the truth because they probably feel what they do not know wouldn't hurt them. I really cannot understand why a person would rather live a lie. I would rather know the truth and get hurt. Pain is not always a bad thing. Sometimes one needs pain to grow. Getting hurt would ensure the same mistakes are not made again and would allow for one to make better choices next time. Of course, there are some women who go through the same experiences over and over again without learning. Generally, people should not see getting hurt as the end of the world. I'd rather get hurt than live a lie with a cheating man. Women need to know and understand that they deserve better. They really do.

Even though i dont quite agree with 'living a lie', i honestly do enjoy the song. This is the effect of raw talent which cannot be denied.
